VATdesk is Now Vaytax: Same Service, New Name

Why We Rebranded

When we launched as VATdesk, the name did its job — it told foreign sellers exactly what we do (German VAT) and where we do it (a desk, a service, done for you). But as we talked to more international e-commerce sellers, SaaS founders, and finance teams, a few things became clear:

• VATdesk wasn't ownable. Several similarly named products and domains existed across the EU. Search results mixed us up with look-alikes, and a couple of clients arrived at the wrong website before finding us.
• The word "desk" felt transactional. What we actually offer is a licensed German Steuerberater on retainer — closer to an advisor than a helpdesk. The old name undersold the service.
• Shorter is better when your clients speak five languages. "Vaytax" is easier to say on a call with a seller in Madrid, a buyer in Milan, or a founder in London than "VATdesk."

We made the switch while we're still small enough to do it cleanly — before the brand collected years of backlinks, invoices, and client habits. Better to pay a small moving cost now than a large one later.

What Changed

What Didn’t Change

The operating company behind Vaytax is the same FRADECO GmbH Steuerberatungsgesellschaft that has always filed your returns. Michael Stiller remains the responsible Steuerberater. We still use DATEV for record-keeping and ELSTER for electronic filing to the German tax authorities. All regulatory licences, professional-liability insurance, and data-residency commitments (EU-region Supabase, servers in Frankfurt) carry across untouched.

For clients already using the platform: your login credentials, subscription, stored documents, past filings, and Stripe billing all continue without interruption. No migration step. Log in at vaytax.com/login with the same email and password you’ve always used.

What This Means for Existing Clients

• Bookmarks still work. vatdesk.io URLs 301-redirect to vaytax.com. You’ll be taken straight to the new domain without clicking anything.
• Invoices now say Vaytax. Stripe billing descriptor, customer portal, and new invoices show the Vaytax name. Historical invoices (issued under VATdesk) remain valid.
• Emails from [email protected] continue to arrive. We’ve set up email forwarding so replies to our old address still reach us during the transition window. New emails from us are sent from @vaytax.com.
• Your Steuernummer, USt-IdNr., and Finanzamt correspondence are unaffected. These are tied to your company at the Finanzamt, not to our brand.

What This Means for SEO and Citations

If you’ve linked to one of our guides from your own site or blog, those links still resolve. Cloudflare’s 301 rule preserves link equity and query strings. We’ve also filed a change-of-address with Google Search Console and pushed the full new URL set to Bing via IndexNow, so search engines recrawl cleanly.

Historical search result snippets may still show “VATdesk” in titles for a few weeks until Google re-indexes. The destination URL is correct regardless — the redirect handles it.
